For many years BMW had been producing uniquely styled motorcycles after its distinctive design philosophy. However, in 2010 everything changed with the decision to build a motorcycle that would participate in production-based race classes, like the World Superbike and the World Endurance Race Championship, to expand global market share and shake off the image of making bikes for older people.
With its water-cooled 4-cylinder, twin-cam 4-valve engine, aluminum twin-spar frame, and telescopic front fork the S1000RR’s configuration matched its Japanese rivals. Determined to win the championship, BMW used only cutting-edge technology for the S1000R, giving it a unique engine performance and light handling, that set it apart from the Japanese machines.
We were asked to develop parts for the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, although it was the first time for us to lay hands on this BMW, changing wheels and exhaust lead to an exceptionally interesting JB-POWER Complete Machine.
